Breaking out old slabs and foundations in Bali
We break out old floor slabs, footings, ground beams, pool shells and buried concrete with a 20-ton excavator and hydraulic breaker, sort the rubble, haul it to legal sites and hand back a level, compacted pad ready for your new slab. Breaking from IDR 380,000/m³, the same rig we run on Bukit limestone every week. Send photos of the old concrete and the plot pin on WhatsApp — written quote within 24 hours of the free site visit.

Inside the scope
What we break out: slabs, footings, beams, old pools
Floor slabs & terraces
Old ground-floor slabs, terraces and screeds broken into pieces a bucket can lift, mesh and rebar cut free and sorted for scrap.
Footings & pad foundations
Strip footings, pads and batu kali foundation walls dug out below the new design level — so nothing old sits under your new structure.
Ground beams & buried concrete
Sloof beams, old column stubs and the concrete a previous owner buried and forgot. Found on the walk-over or on the test dig, priced before we start.
Old pools & septic tanks
Pool shells broken out or punched and backfilled; old septic tanks emptied, crushed and filled so nothing collapses under a future garden.
Driveways & hardstanding
Cracked concrete drives and aprons lifted in one pass, the sub-base checked and re-used where it is still sound.
Breaking next to what stays
Saw-cut lines where old concrete meets walls you keep, a smaller breaker or hand splitting near structures, neighbouring walls photographed first.
Hydraulic breaker work: how old concrete comes out
Every job starts with a walk-over: what comes out, what must survive, where the truck stands, and whether power and water lines are dead — verified, not assumed. Where old concrete meets a wall or slab you keep, we saw-cut the line first, so the break stops exactly there. Then the 20-ton excavator with a hydraulic breaker takes the slab and footings apart in pieces a bucket can lift — the same rig we use for limestone rock breaking on the Bukit. Rebar is cut out as we go and stacked for scrap; its value comes off your bill. Near boundaries we switch to a smaller breaker or hand splitting until there is a safe margin, and neighbouring walls are photographed before the first strike — protection for both sides.
Rubble haul-away — or reuse as hardcore
Broken concrete is material in the wrong shape. Clean concrete and masonry crush into hardcore from IDR 180,000/m³ and go back in as base under a new access road or hardstanding — often cheaper than hauling it away and then buying imported fill. What is genuinely mixed leaves in 7 m³ trucks, from IDR 950,000 per load, to a legal disposal site — not a river bank and not an empty plot up the road. On most slab jobs trucking is the biggest single line of the quote, which is why we count trucks in writing before the breaker starts.
Preparing a level pad for your new slab
Breaking out is half the job; the other half is the ground your new building will stand on. Once the old concrete is gone we dig out soft pockets and old backfill, bring the pad back up in 20–30 cm layers compacted one by one (from IDR 40,000/m² per layer), and finish with a final grade to the design level (from IDR 30,000/m²), checked with a laser and left with grade stakes. Your builder starts foundation excavation from a known surface instead of a rubble field. If the plot also needs clearing, grading and an access road, all of it runs as one site preparation package — one mobilization, one quote.
Where our job starts and ends
We work at ground level and below: slabs, footings, beams, pools, tanks and buried concrete. Taking the roof and walls off a standing building is a separate trade; once those are down, we break and clear what is left in the ground and prepare the pad. Before any breaker arrives we notify the banjar with dates, working hours and truck routes, keep dust down with water, keep to daytime hours and sweep the lane at the end of every day.

FAQ
Slab and foundation breaking — FAQ
How much does it cost to break out an old slab in Bali?
Breaking runs IDR 380,000–550,000 per m³ of concrete depending on thickness and reinforcement. The machine rates are public: a 20-ton excavator with hydraulic breaker from IDR 7,600,000/day, rubble trucks from 950,000 per 7 m³ load, crushing for reuse from 180,000/m³. We measure the slab on a free site visit and fix the total in writing — most owners are surprised how much of it is trucking, not breaking.
Can you break concrete right next to a neighbour’s wall?
Yes. We saw-cut the line where old concrete meets anything that stays, switch to a smaller breaker or hand splitting near boundaries, and photograph neighbouring walls before the first strike. Vibration cracks in a neighbour’s wall cost more than the slower method.
Can the broken concrete be reused on site?
Usually, and it pays. Clean concrete and masonry crush into hardcore from IDR 180,000/m³ and go back in as base under access roads and hardstanding; rebar goes to scrap and its value comes off your bill. Only mixed waste leaves in trucks — every cubic metre reused is a truck you do not pay for.
Do you take down whole buildings?
Our work is at ground level and below: slabs, footings, ground beams, pools, tanks and buried concrete. The roof and walls of a standing building are a separate trade; once they are down, we break out what is left in the ground and hand back a level, compacted pad.
How is the pad prepared for the new building?
After breaking we dig out soft pockets and old backfill, rebuild the pad in 20–30 cm compacted layers and finish to the design level with a laser, leaving grade stakes so your builder or engineer can check every level.
Do I need a permit to break out old foundations?
Inside your own boundary this is usually light on formalities, but if the old building was registered, its removal should be reported through the same channels that permitted it — we tell you honestly at the site visit what applies. What is never optional is the banjar: we notify the village council with dates, hours and truck routes before any machine arrives.
