Plot walk & marking
We walk the boundaries with you (or your pins), tag every tree worth keeping, and mark what goes. Nothing falls that wasn’t agreed the day before.
Vegetation & tree removal
Brush, bamboo stands, banana groves and trees taken down in a planned order — big timber sectioned, not dropped onto the neighbour’s fence.
Root grubbing
Stumps and root plates ripped out by machine, not left to rot under your future floor. Regrowth in a slab is a miserable repair; grubbing is cheap insurance.
Debris out, no burning
Green waste chipped or hauled to legal sites; useful timber stacked for you. We don’t burn — your future neighbours will remember that kindly.
Topsoil strip & stockpile
The top 20–30 cm of living soil is worth money. We strip it first and stockpile it on-site for your landscaping instead of paying to truck fertility away.

The frontier plots are the overgrown ones
The best-priced land in Bali right now — Seseh and Cemagi, Kedungu, the ridges above Ubud — is rarely a neat lawn. It’s abandoned paddy gone to scrub, a coconut grove nobody harvested in a decade, or honest jungle. Owners often overestimate this stage: a 10-are plot that looks apocalyptic usually clears in under a week. The trick is doing it in the right order, with the right things kept.
Clearing is a plan, not a rampage
Day one is a walk, not a machine. We tag keep-trees, find the property pins (you’d be amazed how often the jungle has eaten them), locate the subak channel we must not touch, and agree the debris route. Then the sequence: brush and light vegetation first, trees sectioned down, stumps and root plates grubbed out, green waste hauled. The plot you get back is not just “empty” — it’s readable: you can finally see the slope, the views and the water paths, which is exactly what your architect needs next.
Roots: the part cheap clearing skips
Anyone with a chainsaw can make vegetation disappear above ground. The expensive mistakes are below: bamboo rhizome left under a future pool deck, a teak stump quietly rotting into a void under a slab. Grubbing — machine-ripping the root systems out — is the unglamorous half of the job and it’s why our clearing includes it by default. If a quote you’re comparing is much cheaper, ask them where the roots go. The answer is usually “nowhere”.
Your topsoil is worth keeping
The top 20–30 cm of a jungle plot is years of accumulated fertility. Scraped into trucks it costs you money twice — once to dump it, once to buy garden soil back after the build. We strip topsoil first and stockpile it in a corner, covered. On a typical Seseh plot that’s 40–60 m³ of soil your landscaper doesn’t have to purchase. What clearing costs in 2026
Light overgrowth from IDR 550,000/are, heavy jungle with removal from IDR 2.2 million/are, big trees priced individually. Land clearing in Bali — FAQ
Can you clear the plot but keep the big trees?
Yes — that’s the default, not the exception. On the walk-over we tag keepers with ribbon, clear around their root zones by hand, and prune rather than fell where a canopy just needs lifting. A mature tree adds real value to a villa plot; removing one is a decision, not an accident.
Do I need permission to cut trees on my own land?
For most garden and scrub species on private land — no. Certain trees (large banyans, anything shading a temple, trees the village considers significant) need a conversation with the banjar first, and sometimes a small ceremony. We know the difference and we ask before we cut; it has saved more than one project’s relationship with its street.
Do you burn the cleared vegetation?
No. Burning is how land clearing gets banned from a village. Everything is chipped, stacked as usable timber, or hauled to legal green-waste sites — the truck count is in your quote. It costs slightly more than a match and it is worth every rupiah.
How long does clearing a 10-are plot take?
Light overgrowth: 1–2 days. Serious jungle with big root plates: 3–5 days including grubbing and haul-away. Wet season adds a little — machines track mud slower — but clearing is one job that runs year-round. See what works in the rains →
What happens after clearing — is the plot ready to build?
Cleared is not the same as prepared. Next usually comes grading and cut & fill to design levels, an access road if trucks can’t reach, and drainage planning. We quote the whole sequence in one document if you want the plot taken to “ready for foundations”.
